Yes. One of the core features of TWIG is the ability to download fuel treatment and wildfire data directly from the viewer. This allows researchers and land managers to efficiently pull collated information into their own analysis software. Currently, the state level fuel treatment data is only viewable, not downloadable, but we hope to have that accessible soon.

The Treatment and Wildfire Interagency Geodatabase (TWIG) is a completely open-access tool. You can access it directly through our website without any need for registration or a login, ensuring that data is available to all stakeholders.

While other tools offer valuable fuels data, TWIG is designed to be more extensive and user-friendly. We include over a million additional records from the FACTS Common Attributes database that represent management activities likely to have impacted forest structure, but which are often missing from other hazardous fuels databases.

ReSHAPE was established in response to a 2021 Congressional mandate to compile and display national-level information on fuel treatment projects and wildfires. Our mission is to bridge the gap between scientific research and on-the-ground management to lower the risk of catastrophic wildfire.

TWIG integrates data from both federal systems of record: the Forest Service’s Forest Activity Tracking System (FACTS) and the Department of the Interior’s National Fire Plan Operations and Reporting System (NFPORS). We also include wildfire perimeter data from the Wildfire Fuel Information Gateway (WFIGS).
