The Role of ReSHAPE

The ReSHAPE program, an initiative of SWERI, was born from a critical need to bridge the gap between complex wildfire science and the practical, on-the-ground management required to protect our landscapes. By consolidating national data into actionable insights, we are transforming how the wildfire management community assesses risk and plans for a more resilient future.

Reshaping the Future of Wildfire Management

We respond to the call to bridge the gap between science and on-the-ground management and pull data out from inaccessible, siloed sources by providing an open-access tool for national fuel treatment and wildfire data. We aim to create a shared system that helps the entire wildfire community use data-driven solutions to protect forests and reduce risks.

Our Aims

We aim to turn national data into action. By connecting information that has historically lived in silos, we empower land managers, researchers, and policymakers with the information they need to work across boundaries, lower wildfire risk, and sustain healthy forest ecosystems.

Looking Forward

We are working towards a future where land managers, researchers, policymakers and the public can easily and instantly access the data they need to inform evidence-based decisions. By breaking down information silos, ReSHAPE aims to support forest restoration that sustains resilient forests and minimizes the social and economic costs of extreme wildfires.

Our Key Pillars

By turning national data into action, SWERI's ReSHAPE program uses data-driven solutions to protect our communities and ensure effective forest management against the threat of catastrophic wildfires.

Cross-Boundary Collaboration

We coordinate work across boundaries to help stakeholders develop collective, landscape-scale strategies.

From Data to Actionable Impact

Our work goes beyond simple data collection; we translate complex national datasets into practical solutions that safeguard our landscapes and the people who live in them. By bridging the gap between research and application, the ReSHAPE program provides measurable benefits across every level of wildfire management.
